Robert W. Drews, 85, Wausau, died Thursday, December 12, 2013, in the loving care of his family and staff at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Robert was born May 11, 1928, in Birnamwood, the son of the late William and Alice (Lund) Drews. On April 10, 1948, in Birnamwood, he married the love of his life, Ella Mae Mosier. Robert was beloved by all who knew him. He loved to tinker on cars, lawn mowers, and was always available to offer a helping hand when needed. He loved to hunt and fish with his boys and grandson, he loved to play his harmonica and listen to polkas. He was an avid model builder and loved making things out of wood.
Robert was a man of many talents. Before his retirement he worked for Wisconsin Distributing and after his retirement delivered meals for North Central Heath Care.
His greatest love of all was his family! Robert is survived by his wife, Ella, of 66 years; sons, James (Carla) Drews, Aniwa, Michael (Susan) Drews, Wausau, and John (Pat) Drews, Aniwa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chad (Lisa) Drews, Wausau, Jennifer (Jeff) Koss, Milwaukee, Lisa (Chad) Anderson, Dousman, WI, Becky (Rob) Drews-McGovern, Springfield, MO, Amanda Lilla, Tiger, GA, Sarah (Craig) Hutchinson, Hawaii, and Gretchen (David) Krueger, Antigo; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, Niklas, Caleb, Reis, and Kyra; one sister, Florence (Drews) Wienandt, Appleton; one brother-in-law, Robert Marquardt, Wausau; and one sister-in-law, Eleanora Mosier, Minnesota. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Luella (Drews) Liscombe and Betty (Drews) Wienandt; one brother, Lloyd Drews; three sisters-in-law, Sally Drews, Marjorie Marquardt, and JoAnne Mosier; and five brothers-in-law, Robert Liscombe, Roy Mosier, Ken Wienandt, Norman Mosier, and Roy Mosier.
A funeral service will be held at Noon, Monday, December 16th, at Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Family will receive guests on Monday, at church, from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Aspirus Palliative Care for their wonderful kindness, care, and love shown to Dad.
