Robert Holster grew up knowing the value of hard work. A graduate of the eighth grade, Bob started working at the age of 12, and never stopped. He was a self taught man who had the ability to calculate, analyze, and design just about anything having to do with construction. In 1946, Bob founded Holster Construction. Many of his buildings dot the Wausau landscape including the Pizza Huts and Burger King buildings, St. Stephen Parsonage, Wausau Insurance Regional office building, and several Wausau Hospital additions. He looked forward to going to work every Monday and had the enjoyment of working with his sons and grandsons.
Bob was born September 7, 1920 in the town of Easton to the late Charles and Francis (Hettinga) Holster. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army 9th Armored Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Lorraine Berard on June 20, 1942 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. This year they celebrated 68 years of marriage. He was a member of St. Stephen having served as Council President and Superintendent of Sunday School.
At the age of 90, Bob passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
