Robert Rasmussen

Robert John Rasmussen, 90 of Palm Desert, Ca and former Wausau resident, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at The Fountains at Carlotta.
He was born September 20, 1925 in Wausau to the late Otto and Frieda (Gottschalk) Rasmussen. Bob was a graduate of Wausau High School and attended UW-Madison. During the Korean War, he was a sergeant in the US Army and was stationed in Alaska.
Bob owned and operated "Rasmussen's Department Store" in Slymar, CA until his retirement. He also served as President of the Chamber of Commerce. Bob was very active and well known in the community and received many awards and acknowledgements for his volunteerism and dedication.
Survivors include his sister, Lois Knapp of Wausau and nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Frieda, four sisters, Lillian Priebe, Gertrude Rasmussen, Helen Mitchell and Bernice Trantow and two brothers, Floyd and William Rassmussen.
