Robert William Wendorf passed away Friday evening, January 19, 2012 at the age of ninety. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane (Brand) whom he married in 1947; and brothers David, Walter, Gilbert and sisters Bernice, Lucille (Voight), and Ruth (Mohelnitsky). Bob was born, raised and lived in Wausau most of his life, serving in World War II in the U.S. Navy (Coast Guard) on the U.S.S. Bisbee and other ships from 1942 until 1946. After being honorably discharged, he worked for over three decades as a pressman at American Can. Bob is survived by his two daughters, Jill (Dove), Neenah and Jaclyn Brand, Wausau; two grandchildren, Sarah and Garyt Trantow: and three nephews. Friends may call at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street in Wausau on Wednesday, January 25th from 5:00-7:00PM and on Thursday, January 26th from 10:00 - 11:00AM. A brief service will take place at 11:00AM with internment at Restlawn Cemetery to follow.
