Rodney Peters

August 24, 1961 — February 15, 2013

Rodney R. "Pete" Peters, 51, of Wausau, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013, at his home. He was born to Kenneth and Stella (Sporisky) Peters in Wausau on August 24, 1961. Pete graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1979 and then attended North Central Technical Institute. While growing up he was confirmed at Grace United Church of Christ in Wausau. He will be remembered most for his gentile soul.
Pete enjoyed art. He had a great ability for drawing and painting, especially with watercolors. He also had a love of the outdoors and would hunt and fish with his family whenever he could. Pete liked to spend time watching the Packers as well. His mild-mannered personality and sensitivity toward others made him loved by his family and friends.
Pete is survived by his brothers, Robin of Milwaukee and Kent of Marathon; sister, Anna (Eric) Betts of Wausau; and nieces, Emily and Toshia Betts of Wausau.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, with Pastor Julie Goranson of Grace United Church of Christ officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19 and again on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
