Roger Barnetzke, 76, of Wausau, died Thursday May 22, 2008 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
Roger was born May 7, 1932 in Wausau to the late Walter and Carrie (Schaefer) Barnetzke. Roger graduated from Wausau High School in 1950. He married Elaine Berens on July 28, 1956 in Edgar. Elaine preceded him in death on May 7, 2004. Roger was an estimator at Wisconsin Public Service for over 40 years. Roger had a passion for music. He was part of the original Jerry Goetsch Orchestra as well as the popular Nu-Tones Band. Roger was also the leader of the Wausau City Band for over 20 years. He was a long time member of both the Elk?s Club and the Wausau Masonic Temple. Roger was a member of the Red Beret Hunting Club for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at his cabin on Somo Lake in Tomahawk.
Survivors include 3 sons; Tom (Lorrie) Barnetzke of Medford, Robert (Pamela) Barnetzke of Wausau, and Brian Barnetzke of Minneapolis, Minn., 7 grandchildren; Matthew, Mitchell, Brandon, Brett, Zachary, Emily, and Katie, and one sister Ellen (Roger) Schuett of Wausau.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday May 27, 2008 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
