Roger Heise

January 22, 1933 — February 24, 2013

Roger L. Heise, 80, Marathon, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, on February 24th 2013.

He was born January 22nd 1933, the son of the late Elmer and Evelyn (Mielke) Heise. Roger graduated from Wausau High School in 1951. On August 25th 1956, Roger was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Seehafer, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in the town of Stettin. Soon after, he became a member at Trinity, where he remained a faithful member over the years and enjoyed participating in many church activities.

Roger was a dedicated dairy farmer for 37 years. After he retired in 1990 from farming, he worked at Custom Meats, in Marathon; County Market, Wausau, in the meat department; and at the Marshfield Clinic, as a courier, retiring in 2009.

Spending time with family was most important to Roger. He was always ready for a game of Sheepshead, enjoyed bird watching, and keeping tabs on his favorite baseball and football teams. Roger and Phyllis traveled to many places over the years, including Hawaii, and Europe. He liked to help Phyllis bake cookies and especially eat them. Roger's daily trips around the neighborhood will be missed by all who would visit with him.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 56 years, Phyllis; two children, Renae (Bryan) Wesolowski, Marathon, and Ross (Julie) Heise, New Castle, WA; three grandchildren, Angela (Chris Rice), Benjamin (Ashley Wilichowski), and Amélie; four siblings, Lois Kainz, Dale (Patricia) Heise, Judy (Merlin) Steinagel, and Gene (Sharon) Heise; mother-in-law, Hildegard Seehafer; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and countless friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Louis Kainz; and nephew, Wayne Lodholz.

A celebration of Roger's life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 1st, at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. Reverend Phil Bogen will officiate. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive guests on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the church.
