Roger Hieronimus

December 28, 1937 — December 7, 2008

Roger G. Hieronimus, 70, Wausau, died December 7, 2008 following a courageous battle with lymphatic leukemia.


He was born December 28, 1937 in Marathon City, son of the late Ervin and Elsie (Graveen) Hieronimus. On June 2, 1962 he was united in marriage to Sharlene Bahr at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stettin. Roger faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1960 as an aircraft electronics mate. Roger retired from Wisconsin Public Service, Weston in 1998.


He enjoyed hunting, especially his trips to Wyoming, gardening, traveling extensively, photography, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.


Survivors include his beloved wife, Sharlene; two daughters, Lori (Rick) Frey-Gomoll; of Kohler and Jennifer Hieronimus of Wausau; five grandchildren, Megan Sesing-Gomoll, Jacob, Hannah, and Alyssa Frey, and Cale Hieronimus. One sister, Jean (Joe) Ginzinger of Macomb, MI; two brothers, James (Barb Cody) Hieronimus and Don (Lyn) Hieronimus of Wausau; two sisters-in-law, Sharon (Jerry Klinger) Kautzman and Sandra (Bruce) Seefeld and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Elvin and Agnes Bahr and brother-in-law, Dan Kautzman.


Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin. Reverend Clarence Gall will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and resuming at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the church until the funeral services. Burial will follow the funeral service in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Stettin. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com .
