Roger Donald Poeske, 71, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Roger was born February 19, 1945 in Green Bay to Lamoine (Johnson) and the late Arnold Poeske. The family moved to Wausau when he was 5 years old and Roger graduated from Wausau High School. Roger met the love of his life, Coreen Ann Schmidt, when they were teenagers and married on November 20, 1965 at First English Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with three children: Heath, Jason, and Jennifer. Roger worked for Wausau Metals for 36 years, retiring in 2005 as a Draftsman.
Roger was a good husband, father, and grandfather with a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. He treasured the time spent camping and at the cottage, rarely if ever catching fish, but always enjoying the time there with family. Over the years there were several family car trips. Across the country to Texas visiting family, to Yellowstone, and to Florida visiting Disney World. Roger was always a very social person and in his retired years he enjoyed getting together with his retired coworkers. Throughout his life, Roger was a faithful supporter and fan of all Wisconsin sports; Badgers, Packers, and Brewers.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Coreen, of 51 years; children, Heath (Missy) Poeske, Jason (Leslie) Poeske and Jennifer (Nick) Halsey; grandchildren, Brenna Jo, Samantha, Ian, and Raven; mother, Lamoine Poeske; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Dale and Marshall.
