Roger Prahl will be remembered as a loving family man who always had a smile. He was actively involved in the town of Wausau both as a third term town supervisor and founding chief of the volunteer fire department in 1987.
Roger passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital at the age of 53. He was born on Christmas Eve of 1953 in Wausau to Norman and Adeline (Traska) Prahl of the town of Wausau. Before graduating from Wausau East High School, Roger bought his town of Wausau farm. He was a supporter of the 4H and alumni member of FFA. Roger and his family always had animals at the Wisconsin Valley Fair. Before retiring in 2004 from the town of Wausau Fire Department, Roger was also a First Responder. Christmas was always a special time for Roger. He loved dressing up as Santa for the kids and grandchildren as well as making Christmas cookies.
Survivors besides his parents, are his children, Carla Prahl of Stillwater, Ok, Pamela (Dwayne) Nyman of Mosinee, Andrew (Dana Borchardt) Prahl, town of Wausau, Stephanie Prahl of Wausau, two grandchildren, Jackson Nyman and Kayleen Prahl, four brothers, Jerome, Arlo (Sue), John (Ellen), and Clifford (Dr. Kristine), all of the town of Wausau, two sisters, Linda (Jim) Glatczak , town of Wausau, Karen (Jon) Roble, town of Weston, the mother of his children, Judy Krueger of Wausau and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, town of Easton. Reverend Timothy Coppersmith will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. this evening at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
