Roger Westberg

Roger Lee Westberg, age 78 of Rochester passed away at his residence on January 6, 2015.

Roger was born on April 18, 1936 in Wausau, WI to Melvin and Genevieve (Schlais) Westberg. He worked on a farm near Wausau, until enlisting in the US Army. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Roger moved to Rochester, MN to be closer to his sister in 1972. Roger first worked for his brother-in-law in the vinyl roofing industry. He then worked for Road Constructors as a parts-runner. Roger was a longstanding member of the Rochester American Legion. He was an avid hunter and guided for bear hunters.

Survivors include his long-time companion, Rose "Rita" Behrns of Rochester, three sons, and one daughter, a sister Sharon (Ronald Tress) Walker of Wausau, a brother Charles (Lenore) Westberg of Manitowoc, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Genevieve "Jeanie" Kruger and Delores "Toby" Brotski.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Grand Ave., Wausau. Full military rites will be performed by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
