Ronald Balz

Ron was born March 8th 1949, in Wausau, the son of the late Louis and Eleanora (Riemer) Balz. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau, where worshipping and participating in church activities were important to him. Over the past two years Ron enjoyed socializing with friends and participating in activities at the Community Club House.

Music was Ron's passion. He collected music of all genres throughout his life. In his 20s and 30s, he played drums for numerous local bands. Ron's hobbies included many physical activities such as biking around town, walking, tennis, horseshoes, and bowling. Reading books, playing cards, and talking to his friends and family, were other activities Ron greatly enjoyed.

Ron was residing at Riverview Towers on Grand Avenue, where he enjoyed his interactions with staff and fellow residents. He especially treasured spending time with his special friend of 13 years, Carol Wilke.

Ronald Louis Balz, 62, passed away Monday, February 13th 2012, at his home.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Christopher (Jasmine) Balz, Renton, WA; daughter, Tammy (Ben) Fehrer, Rochester, IN; brother, Merwin (Margie) Balz, Temple, TX; sister, Doreen (Eugene) Weise, Athens; grandson, Jeremiah Balz; granddaughter, Eleanora Fehrer; along with nephews, nieces, and friends.

A service celebrating Ron's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25th, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.
