Ronald W. Woelfle, 81, of Wausau passed away peacefully at Applegate Terrace on December 20, 2021.

Ron was born August 20, 1940 in Hamburg, WI to parents William (Bill) and Evelyn (Oelke) Woelfle. He attended Wausau Senior High School graduating in 1958. He served in the Army including an assignment in Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis and received an Honorable Discharge. He returned to Wausau after this and married Myrtle Czech on August 15, 1964. They had 1 child, Wade, in 1967. He worked as a bookkeeper for Neuendorf Trucking followed by Schuette Building Center in Wausau. In 1979, he was promoted to manager of a newly opened Schuette Building Center in Minocqua, WI. In 1985, he took a similar position at Delta Home Center in Marinette, WI. In 1986, he took a position managing a new Wausau Supply Company wholesale building materials warehouse in Farmington MN until 1996 when he and Myrt returned to Wausau. He retired from Wausau Supply in 2001.

Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing, including ice fishing. He created many of his own fishing lures and enjoyed tying flies. He closely followed the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Wisconsin Badgers football, basketball, and volleyball teams. He also enjoyed building rec rooms for his homes in Wausau and Minocqua, as well as his son’s home in Fort Atkinson. He and friends, Gary Mead and Gary Hiller built and sold a house in Minocqua, and he and Wade built the home he lived in while in Minnesota. He also enjoyed time spent with extended family and friends in the 1970s and 80s at a cottage in Boulder Junction and Woelfle extended family campouts at multiple state parks every year in June from 2004 until 2019.

Ron is survived by his wife Myrt and his son, Wade and daughter-in-law, Dianna as well as multiple nephews. nieces, and their children, as well as several fishing buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother Richard (Dick) Woelfle.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth Street, Wausau. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Rev. Andrew Franzo will officiate the service. Burial will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau.

MASKS, HAND SANITIZING, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE REQUIRED AT BOTH LOCATIONS TO PROTECT THE FAMILY AND STAFF. YOUR COOPERATION AND UNDERSTANDING IS MUCH APPRECIATED.
