Rosemary Ott, 98 of Wausau passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Benedictine Living Community. We have lost another one of the “Greatest Generation”.
She was born October 8, 1919 in Wausau to the late William and Mathilda (Steppert) Gendron. Rosemary grew up in Wausau and was a graduate of Wausau High School. On July 11, 1942, Rosemary married Raymond Ott in Portsmouth, N.H. They were together for 64 years until Ray passed away in 2006. She worked for the National Fur Breeders Association and later at Employers Insurance of Wausau. In her earlier years, Rosemary loved going on her many travels with Ray. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed sewing, baking, watching birds at her feeders and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four children, Paul (Mona) of Wausau, Colin (Barb) of Wausau, Sandy of Wausau, Dave (Christa) of Sturgeon Bay, five grandchildren, Jackie (Mark) Ratcliffe, Pam (Todd) Pingel, Ryan (Jen) Ott, Sara (Dean) Heinz, Vicki Hernden and seven great grandchildren, Eli Thomas, Dylan Heinz, Emily, Samuel, Ray and Esther Pingel and Lukus Ott, one sister, Marie Dawe of Milwaukee and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was further preceded in death by a great grandson, Matthew Pingel, two sisters, Margaret Hager and H. Jane Baker and sister-in-law, Florence Block.
Private family services were held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Robert Thorn officiated. Burial took place at Restlawn Memorial Park. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
