Rosemary Florence Ruechel, 75, Wausau, was called home by her Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Rosemary was born January 29, 1941 in Wausau to the late Robert and Florence (Hase) Ames. She is a 1959 graduate of Wausau High School. Rosemary married the love of her life, Elroy Ruechel, on September 15, 1962 in Wausau. She worked as a legal secretary in the Wausau area for many years, served as Town of Wausau Treasurer and poll worker.
Rosemary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and had a special fondness for her grandchildren. Rosemary was a LWMS member, taught Sunday school, member of Lutheran Pioneers and 4H leader. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling across the country with Elroy and camping.
Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Elroy; children, Dianne (Joseph) Drew of Wausau, Dale (Bonnie) Ruechel of Bevent and Joanne Ruechel of Wausau; grandchildren, Michael (fiancé, Sarah Hagen) Drew, Christopher (fiancé, Nicole Schmeichel) Drew, Cole Ruechel and Clay (Samantha) Ruechel; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ryan; siblings, Richard (Dianne) Ames, Marlene (Gordon) Schalow, Ruth (David) Harper and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rebecca.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 25th, 2016 at Mountain of the Lord Lutheran Church, 5506 Bittersweet Road, Wausau. Rev. Andrew Buschkopf will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 24th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM at Mountain of the Lord Lutheran Church. Visitation will resume at 9:00 AM on Monday at the church until the time of services. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
