Ruth Lois Mirman, 85, Wausau, died Friday, February 29, 2008 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA.
Ruth was born on July 20, 1922 to the late Barnett Louis and Cherry (Sieff) Cline in Quincy, IL. The family moved to Salt Lake City, UT, following her father's premature death. Ruth grew up and went to school in Salt Lake City. She later met Ralph Mirman, who was in the service and stationed in Salt Lake City, and the couple were married on July 23, 1946 and subsequently moved to Wausau, WI.
An accurate description of Ruth would be: a true lady, a truly gentle person, someone who always spoke her mind.
She involved in many community activities. She served on the local hospital board and was very active and served many years meals on wheels to people in need with her partner. Ruth was very active in garden club for many years and co-hosted lunch for members. She loved to play scrabble and was an excellent player. Ruth organized a gourmet cooking group that developed many fabulous dinners. She touched many people in many ways that changed them for the better by knowing her.
In her early 60's, she studied and completed her Bot Mitzvah service, a remarkable feat for someone of her age and it received much attention statewide. She was proud to have served on the original selection committee twenty years ago that hired Rabbi Danson. Ruth was also a co-director and buyer for the Temple gift shop.
Ruth truly loved her three grandchildren, who moved to Wausau from Santa Barbara, CA. Her ability to cope with whatever adversity came to her was always remarkable and she kept an amazing positive attitude always. An exceptionally lovely person in every way, loved by most people she met.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Mirman; son, Larry Mirman; daughter-in-law, Patricia Mirman; three wonderful grandchildren, Daniel, Rebecca, and Andrew; and her sister, Bette Goldberg.
Funeral services for Ruth will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Mount Sinai Congregational in Wausau. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM and last until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home, resuming at 10:00 AM and lasting until 11:00 AM on Thursday at the synagogue. Shiva services will be at 7:00 PM Thursday and Saturday, at the Mirman residence. Memorials may be directed to Rabbi Danson's Discretionary Fund at Mount Sinai Congregational or to the Ruth Mirman Fund for Nursing Scholarships at North Central Technical College.
