In Loving Memory of Ruth Richmond

February 17, 1914 - September 5, 2009

Ruth (Dake) Richmond, 95, entered the next journey of her life on Saturday, September 05, 2009. She answered the Lord’s call to leave this Earth and join him in heaven where she will be a guardian angel to those of us still traveling the physical road of life.

Ruth was born Feb. 17, 1914 to Albert and Catherine (Altenburg) Dake. She married Ervin Richmond on May 20, 1939. Although he crossed over on Dec 9, 1973, he returned to Ruth to assist her in her journey, which reunited them once more. Ruth and Ervin will be looking down from heaven upon a son, Kenneth (Donna) Moeser; a daughter, Jean Schulz; six grandchildren: Jeff Moeser; Mosinee; John (Barb) Moeser, Rhinelander; Deb Shell, Stevens Point; Mark Schulz, Stillwater, MN; Tammy Schulz, Stevens Point; and Todd (Lisa) Schulz; Rosholt. Ruth also has 4 great grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, one sister in law, Arlane McNabb, Wausau and several nieces and nephews who she will be watching over as well.

She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Wausau, as well as a member of Martha’s Circle and Easton Center Homemaker’s Club. She took great pride in her home and adorned it with beautiful flowerbeds and a vegetable garden. She also enjoyed doing a little crafting with her church circle. Ruth loved to do needlepoint and sewed her own clothes in the same meticulous fashion that she kept her home. Practical and wise in her decisions, she was an example of strength and determination. Forever and always the proper Lady, never wavering from the level of dignity and respect that goes with that, even during the changing times.

“You can shed tears that she is gone,

or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,

or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,

or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,

or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her only that she is gone,

or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,

be empty and turn your back.

Or you can do what she'd want:

smile, open your eyes, love and go on."

With special thanks to Mary Droske and Carol Pzybylski at Aspirus Hospice for the care and attention.
