Scott Louis

December 19, 1969 — May 25, 2010

Scott Louis had a passion for the outdoors. From hiking the entire Appalachian Trail to camping in the Apostle Islands, Scott was never happier than when he was alone with nature. During his formative years he spent his summers at Camp Thunderbird for Boys, a camp founded by his Grandparents, Speedy and Honey Altman. It is where he developed his love for nature and the outdoors. He was born December 19, 1969 in Wausau to Elton and Joyce Louis of Wausau. Scott was a 1988 graduate of Wausau East High School, continuing his education at UWMC and graduating with honors from UW-Madison with a double major in genetic engineering and wildlife ecology. With a keen interest in computers, Scott worked as an operational risk consultant in the mortgage department for Wells Fargo Bank in Denver, CO. His other interest was traveling and hiking. Scott visited several countries in Europe and the Middle East and also visited China as well as every state in the nation except Alaska. Scott easily made friends wherever he traveled and worked and many became lifelong friends. He’ll be greatly missed and remembered for his quick wit, easy going nature and sense of humor.

At the age of 40, Scott passed away at his home in Denver on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.

Survivors include his parents, Elton and Joyce, two sisters, Rachel Tate and her daughters, Alexis and Kayli, Jeanine (Dallas) Laffin and their sons, Zachary and Dylan, all of Wausau, and many relatives and friends.
