Selta Hoard

Selta M. (Sally) Hoard of Wausau, died November 25, 2009, at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Sally was born July 1, 1911, to August and Martha (Bartelt) Krenz. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. She graduated from Wausau High School and attended the Marathon County Normal School. Her business career was extensive in executive, managerial and legal secretarial positions. She worked in Wausau, New York City, Chicago and Milwaukee where she retired after 28 years of service to the Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Company.


Sally was a breast-cancer survivor of almost fifty years. She continued to watch the daily news, read critically and exercise her right to vote until about eighteen months ago. She was preceded in death by her sister Allegra, her brother Marvin, her first husband William T. Cavanagh, and her second husband of fifty-three years, Allan M. Hoard. There are no immediate family members surviving.


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau. The service will be preceded by visitation at 2 p.m. Gifts in Sally’s memory may be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Homes at Watertown, Wisconsin, or Trinity Lutheran Church at Wausau.
