Shirley Kopchinski

Shirley Ann Kopchinski, 67, Wausau, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau.

Shirley was born December 30, 1947 in Wausau to the late Clarence and Helga (Hanson) Kramer. She graduated from Wausau High School and continued to live her entire life in Wausau. Shirley married Floyd Kopchinski in 1982 in Wausau, later divorcing but remaining close. Throughout her life, Shirley was a State Licensed child care provider running her family daycare where she lovingly took care of children.

Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother who deeply loved and cared for her family. She was an independent woman who was very handy taking care of her home and loved making all kinds of crafts. Shirley loved the Christmas season and decorating for it, the summer often found her tending to her flowers pots. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed spending time with friends, dancing, boating, and traveling. In addition to her family, Shirley also had a great love for all animals; especially her dogs through the years.

Shirley is survived by her beloved children, Shannon and Chad (Allison) Kopchinski; grandson, Koleman Kopchinski; granddog, Yoshi and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Floyd; and her siblings.

A memorial service will be at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4:30 PM until 7:30 PM at the funeral home on Tuesday. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
