Shirley will be remembered by her family as a woman who had a big heart, gave of herself unconditionally, and always had good, kind things to say. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born June 4th 1935, the daughter of the late Otto and Alma (Beilke) Koenig, in the town of Stettin. Shirley grew up in Wausau and attended area schools. She met Daniel Reichl, while bowling with friends, and on November 15th 1952, they were united in marriage. Together they shared 60 years of memories.
Shirley was always ready to welcome those who visited their home with a warm meal and a hug. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
On Monday, July 23rd 2012, Shirley Ann Reichl passed away at home, and is finally at peace, after struggling with heart and lung failure for three years. She was 77 years old.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Daniel Reichl, Wausau; four sons, Steven (Barbara) Reichl, Weston, Scott Reichl, Wausau, Stuart (Patti Carpenter) Reichl, Tomahawk, and Mark (Jeri Ann) Reichl, Wisconsin Rapids; five grandchildren, Jeremiah (Amy) Reichl and their children, Samantha and Lincoln, Nikole (Christopher) Miller and their children, Ashley and Isaac, Stephanie (Troy) Weisenberger and their children, Breana and Ryan, and Gretchen and Morgan Reichl; and other family members and friends.
Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her siblings, Orian, Arden, Wilton, and Norden Reichl, and Arlene Buch; and daughter-in-law, Geralyn.
The family will receive guests from 5 until 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 25th, at the Helke Funeral Home; and again Thursday, July 26th from 10 a.m. until Noon, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, Garden of Eternal Rest, Thursday, at 3 p.m.
