Shirley was born August 2, 1932, to the late Gilbert and Blondina (Bach) Teske, in the Town of Berlin. On August 5, 1950, she was united in marriage to Elmer Wendorf, in Naugart, WI. Shirley worked at Marathon Rubber, in Wausau, for many years and also owned Ceramic Place, which she operated out of her home for 15 years.
Shirley will be remembered for many different reasons. She was a vibrant woman who enjoyed sharing her talent for ceramics and crafts with anyone who was willing to learn, including her grandchildren. Family and friends were central to her and all who gathered together will remember the many games of cards played, especially Skip-Bo and Aggravation. Her membership at Trinity Lutheran Church went beyond attending church; she was involved in many activities and was known for the many prayer shawls she made over the years.
Shirley Ann Wendorf, 77, of Wausau, died December 23, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with her family by her side.
She will be sadly missed by her family including her grandchildren, Chad Kuehmichel, Verona, WI, and Ashley Kuehmichel, Wausau; 4 brothers, Stanley (June) Teske, Missouri, Wayne (Marlene) Teske, Merrill, Larry (Jolene) Teske, Merrill, and David (Dawn) Teske, Merrill; 2 sisters, Karen (Jerry) Krueger, Schofield, and Bonnie Kopplin, Weston; and many other family members and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Kuehmichel, in 1990; husband, Elmer Wendorf, in 1994; and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Delmar Teske.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 29th, at Trinity Lutheran Church, on Stewart Avenue. The Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors Monday, December 28th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau; and again the day of the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
