Stanley C. Seefeld was born November 14, 1920 in the Town of Berlin to the late Carl and Hulda (Koschnick) Seefeld. Growing up, he attended Grant School before moving on to Trinity Lutheran School and graduating from Wausau High. After high school, Stanley attended the Wausau Business College while "keeping the books" for two businesses, setting pins at the Wausau Club and playing in a dance band. In 1940, Stanley began working full time as an accountant for Egdahl Lumber Company, his only full time job he would have during his life that would last until his retirement in 1981. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and graduated from the Army Finance School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN, and was assigned to the Finance Section of the 89th Infantry Division. Stanly was serving in Germany when WWII ended and was discharged in 1946 as a Tec 3rd Grade. In 1946, Stanley bumped into Caroline Cardoni at a fire north of town and the two shortly began courting. The happy couple was married August 3, 1947. In 1949, he joined the newly formed 367th Finance Disbursing Section of the United States Army Reserve, retiring in 1966 as Chief Warrant Officer. Throughout his life Stanley was a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church; holding various positions including treasurer and president, he was also a long time audit committee member. Though Stanley and Caroline never had children of their own, they delighted in spending time with their nieces and nephews and were second parents to them throughout their lives. The couple enjoyed playing cards, dancing and traveling together extensively. Sadly, Stanley had to say goodbye to Caroline when she died in 2010 after 62 years of marriage. Stanley Seefeld, 94, Wausau, died Wednesday, January 1, 2015 at Wausau Manor, Wausau.
During his lifetime, Stanley held membership with the Elks, American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, VFW Burns Post #388 and the Reserve Officers Association (Life Member).
Stanley is survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce Pepelnjak of Virginia, MN; nieces, Joy Marie (Peter) Wollenzien of River Falls, Wendy Senarighi and Mary (Mark) Rozier both of Virginia, MN; godson, Richard (Lynette) Zuch of St. Charles, MO and many more extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his infant sister, Grace; brother-in-law, Frank Pepelnjak; niece, Wanda Joy Pepelnjak; and nephews, Alex Steven and James Frank Pepelnjak.
