Steven Ostrander

Steven's family and friends were privileged to hold his hand in this life; and they will continue to hold his sweet and gentle spirit in their hearts forever. He loved to sing, dance, and color. Most importantly he loved to make people laugh and share his bright personality with everyone around him.
Steven was born October 13, 1950, with Down's Syndrome, the son of the late Ronald Ostrander and Esther (Krieger) Zahn, in Cincinnati, OH. He lived at the Ricky Zender Memorial Home, Wausau, before moving to Coho Assisted Living, Colby. Steven will be remembered and missed by the friends and caregivers who knew him throughout the years.
At the age of 60, Steven Earl Ostrander, died July 25, 2011, at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield under palliative care, following a recent fall.
He will be missed by his brothers, Gerald (Lynne) Ostrander, Oakland, CA, Stuart (Kathy) Ostrander, Platte City, MO, Dean (Sandy) Ostrander, Appleton, WI, and Joseph (Patricia) Ostrander, Wausau; sister, Anita (Jeff) Zagrodnik, Hales Corners, WI; step-mother, Irmgard Ostrander, Hales Corners, WI; 8 nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
A sincere "thank you" to all the caregivers at Coho and the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital – Palliative Care for the care given to Steven.
A memorial celebration of Steven's life will be held from 4 – 6:00 p.m., with a closing service at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 31st at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Burial will be private at Restlawn Memorial Park.
