Thomas Walter Fehl, 57, Wausau, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Thomas was born January 16, 1957 at Memorial Hospital in Wausau to the late Walter and Jeanette (Lodholz) Fehl. He is a 1975 graduate of Wausau West High School. Thomas married Cheryl Gutknecht on September 12, 1981 in Wausau and the couple celebrated 33 years together.
Thomas was employed at an early age by Pepsi Bottling Company before learning the HVAC trade by working for Wanta Boiler Service and Marathon County, later owning and operating Fehl Heating. For the past 21 years, Thomas and Cheryl have been the proud owners and operators of the 101 Pub in Wausau.
First and foremost, Thomas was a "Parrothead" through and through and went to nearly 20 Jimmy Buffett concerts over his life. Early on, he participated and assisted his father with the Wausau Cyclones Men's Hockey Team. Thomas was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Wild fan. He also had a great love of NASCAR and the local racing circuit, often supporting many of the local stock car drivers. Thomas also enjoyed hunting but had a great love of animals and a big heart. Cheryl and Thomas supported the Marathon County Humane Society and the New Life Pet Adoption Center.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl; brother, Bradley (Vickie) Fehl of Wausau and their children, Nicole, Lauren, Alexander and Erin; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jan Gutknecht of Park Falls and their son, John (Chris) Gutknecht; his dogs, Bruno and Nala; bird, Cuckoo and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Lillian and Edwin Gutknecht and brother-in-law, Dennis "Goot" Gutknecht.
A memorial visitation will be held for Thomas at Helke Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery.
