Thomas W. Werner, 74, Wausau, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Thomas was born on November 18, 1936 in Wausau to the late Elmer and Lorena (Perske) Werner. He is a graduate of Wausau East High School and Northland College in Ashland where he earned a degree in accounting and history. Thomas began his accounting career working for Pied Piper Shoes; then joined the Schuette Brothers at their Weston Homes division on Cherry Street. After Cherry Street, then Wausau Homes at their new site in Rothschild and retired as President of Schuette Building Centers.
Thomas was a quiet man, keeping only a small group of friends. But, to those whom he called friends Thomas was very loyal and generous. He was a one of a kind storyteller and jokester. In his free time, Thomas enjoyed fishing in Canada, bird and deer hunting, collecting watches and clocks and driving big cars.
Thomas is survived by several cousins, dear friends, Jack Desnoyers and Mary Cole; and many more friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2011 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Phil Schneider will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and last until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
