Valeria was born August 29th 1920, the daughter of the late William and Alvina (Klabunde) Zastrow. She grew up on the family farm, which is now where Wausau East High School stands, with her seven brothers and sisters and was a lifelong resident of the Wausau area. On February 3rd 1940, she was united in marriage to Lawrence J. Raduechel, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Valeria and Lawrence worked hard to support their family, often working separate shifts. Over the years, she was employed at Marathon Battery, Connor Industries, Drott, and at the age of 89, retired from La Quinta as a housekeeper.
To say that Valeria was an avid collector would be an understatement. She loved traveling to craft shows and flea markets to complete her collections. Painting ceramics, gardening, bird watching, and enjoying nature were some of the things Valeria did in her spare time. She was a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers.
On May 28th 2013, Valeria E. Raduechel died under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 92 years old.
Valeria will be lovingly remembered by her seven children, Sharon (Steve) Wanta, Earl (Carol) Raduechel, Elaine (Tom "Stub") Wohlfahrt, Jeanne (Peter) Gutowski, Suzanne Raduechel, Carolyn Haase, and David (Anne) Raduechel; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Tommy Zieglmeier; and numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
Along with her parents, Valeria was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1992; daughter, Shirley Zieglmeier, in 2002; granddaughter, Samantha Raduechel, in 2008; great-grandson, Clayton Haase; five brothers; and two sisters.
