Vanenty Justin Mesun, 82, of Wausau, passed away July 4, 2010 at Aspirus Hospital.
He was born in Chicago, IL April 1, 1928, to the late Mary and Justin Mesun. He married Kathleen Rautio on May 27, 1949, in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen, his children Michael (wife Cindy and granddaughter Ashley), daughter Michelle Matte (grandchildren Pierre, Gabrielle, Phillipe and Dominique, and great-grandson, Everett) and Brian (wife Elizabeth and grandson Timothy). He is also survived by siblings Norman, Lucille and Anita, and numerous nieces and nephews; and was preceded in death by his brother Michael.
Van was a member of First English Lutheran Church, and the church's Retired Men's Club. He was a long-standing member of the Wausau Noon Lion's Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and reading.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
In respect of his wishes, Van will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church Friday afternoon, July 9, 2010. Visitation will begin at 3:30 pm, followed by a eulogy service at 4:00. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the church immediately following the service.
