Victor Venske

February 9, 1925 — April 25, 2012

Victor Venske, 87, of Wausau passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
He was born February 9, 1925 in the town of Wausau to the late Henry and Meta (Ninneman) Venske. Victor served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On January 5, 1957, he married Allean Bryant in Ohio. They made their home in Wausau raising their children, Jim and Brenda. Victor was a truck driver for Mayflower, Allied Van Lines and retired in 1980 from Glendenning Trucking. After retiring, he drove bus for Laidlaw Transit. Since 1968, Victor was extremely involved in Boy Scouts. He was a troop leader and assistant scout master for St. Anne's Troop #427. Victor was a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow and honored with the District Order of Merit Award. Over the years, he volunteered hundreds of hours at Camp Phillip and Camp Tesomas even having a cabin named after him. Victor's pastimes included vegetable gardening, working on puzzles and watching western movies.
Survivors include his wife, Allean of Wausau, son, Jim (Audrey) Venske of Waunakee, six grandchildren, Dustin, Cassandra and Amanda Venske, Shannon, Lance and Victor Breeden, two great grandchildren, Jensen and Madlyn, two brothers, Frank (Estlene) Venske of Wausau, Wilbur Venske of Stoughton and one sister, Florence (Henry) Hoffman of Seal Beach, CA. Victor was preceded in death by his daughter and her husband, Brenda and Ken Breeden, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Father Steve Brice will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family with contributions being given to Camp Tesomas, Camp Phillip and Compassionate Friends.
