Violet Westfall

Violet Helen (Glasel) Westfall passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Wausau Manor. Violet was the fourteenth child of George and Clara (Prahl) Glasel. She was born in the town of Wausau on March 10, 1928. She married her sweetheart, Earl Charles Westfall on September 14, 1946, in Pine City, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1994.
Violet is survived by five children, Timothy (Sally) Westfall, Edgar; Susan (David) Niewolny, Athens; Darwyn (special lady, Jill), Athens; Gloria (Patrick) Sullivan, Windsor; and Neal Westfall, Wausau; 12 grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin) Ruplinger, Craig (Tammy) Westfall, Jeramie (Becky) Westfall, Amy and Stephaine Westfall, Stacey (Steve) Whaley, Murphy (Meagan) Sullivan, Sean (Michelle) Westfall, Adam (Michelle) Westfall, Jennifer, Andy, and Samantha Westfall; two step-grandsons, Todd (Shelli) Niewolny and Tony (Wendy) Niewolny; nine great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister, Phyllis Holzem; one brother, David Glasel; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Westfall, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, 12 brothers and sisters, and their spouses.
Our mom met the love of her life (her Sweetheart) when she was 17 years old while working at Wausau Motor Parts. Their eyes met and she knew. She went home that day and told Momma, "I met the man I am going to marry." About 11 months later they were married. Dad was so excited when he found out they would be parents for the first time in January 1949.
In addition to Wausau Motor Parts, Mom worked at Marathon Battery, Gay Craft Products, and Bill's Fine Foods, while raising their five children. Life wasn't always easy, but with her faith in God she lived and loved their life together.
We would like to thank the entire staff at Wausau Manor for the love and attention shown to our mother. When Mom said she loved you, she meant it!
Once again Mom is with the love of her life, her Sweetheart.
A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau, with Rev. Gary Schultz officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church until the time of service. Burial will be in Mechanic's Ridge Cemetery, town of Wausau.
