Walter L. "Junior" Wiederhoeft, 82, of Wausau passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1933 in Wausau to the late Walter A. and Ruth (Edler) Wiederhoeft. On July 25, 1959, Walt married Joyce Bauer at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. He was employed at Marmet Corp. for forty four years before retiring. Whether it was cutting wood, fishing for walleyes on the Rainbow Flowage or the fall deer hunt, Walt was never more comfortable than when he was outdoors. Walt and Joyce enjoyed their cottage in Lake Tomahawk especially sitting around the fire pit with a few cold ones and telling stories with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Wausau, two daughters, Lonnie of Eau Claire and Deborah of Madison, five grandchildren, Tara, Justin, Nathan (Maegan), Haley and Paige, six great grandchildren, Brandon, Ethan, Isaiah, Kai, DeNae and Markel and one sister, Beverly (Roger) Goetsch of Wausau. Walt was preceded in death by three brothers, infant Wilbur, Arleigh and Eugene (Nancy) Wiederhoeft and a sister, Lorraine (Jack) Schenzel.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau. Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
