Warren F. Doede, 85, of Wausau, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, November 24, 2016.
Warren was born September 23, 1931, son of the late Louie F. and Ruth (Auerbach) Doede. He received his education in Wausau, graduating from Wausau East High School in 1949 and continued at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County. After his schooling he entered the United States Navy for four years. During the time of his service he was united in marriage to Beatrice Grosskreutz on August 23, 1952, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in the Town of Wausau.
After his military service, Warren and Bea returned to the Wausau area and purchased the family farm, which was operated until 1965. Warren also began his working career upon arrival home, working at American Can – Research & Development Department in Rothschild until the company was eventually sold. Warren then became a professional beekeeper and operated Sunny Acres Foods bottling his own honey which he sold in the area. After this venture he purchased Ill-Key Locksmith Service which he operated until the time of his death.
Warren enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. They enjoyed many trips camping, skiing, and canoeing. Warren was a member of the national ski patrol where he patrolled the slopes of Rib Mountain Ski Area. He spent time with his sons on the hill getting them involved in the sport. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Bea, which included trips to Germany, Australia, and river boat cruises on the Columbia and Mississippi. Warren and Bea have been very involved in church activities for Trinity Lutheran Church, including planning trips for Trinity Tours for the past 15 years. He was a life member of the VFW Post #388, American Legion, and Elks Club for 38 years.
Warren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice, three sons, Michael of Marathon, Scott (Janel) of Wausau and Steven (Jaye) of Mosinee, six grandchildren, Phillip, Lindsey, Matthew, Jessica, Rebecca, Lucas, and one brother Donald (Shirley) Doede of Hoffman Estates, IL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave. Wausau, Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Entombment with military rites will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Helke Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
