Wayne Degner

Wayne William Degner, 79, of Wausau, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016, at his home in Wausau.

Wayne was born January 3, 1937, in Wausau, WI, son of the late William and Delores (Reese) Degner. He attended Wausau High School. Wayne worked in the Carpenters Union his entire life, retiring from Olson's Floor Covering in Rib Mountain. He made his home in Seattle, WA for a time before returning to Wisconsin, making his home in Wausau.

Following a previous marriage, he was married to Diane Reetz on September 1, 1990 and they lived in Wausau all their married life.

Wayne had a lifelong love of the Packers and enjoyed watching baseball, fishing and old time country music.

He is survived by a daughter Josie (Jon) King of Montgomery, IL, two sons, Daniel (Radica Behnke) Degner of Plover, WI and Doug (Michelle) Degner of Weston, WI, a step daughter Sheila (Mark) Fugate of Wausau, two step sons, Sheldon (Nicole) Scheu of Shakopee, MN and Scott (Cindy) Scheu of Waterford, WI, 13 grandchildren, Bradley, Brianna, Ryan, Riley, Nathan, Allison, Ashley, Zhenya, Maxim, Cody, Garrett, Victoria and Alex, three sisters, Pat (Herb) Narloch of Rothschild, WI, Beverly Hoft and Susie (Ron) Wolf both of Wausau.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Diane, a twin brother Weldon and two sisters Darlene and Janet.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St, Wausau with Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau and after 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
