Wiiliam Peterson

July 7, 1929 — April 14, 2007

William L. "Billy" Peterson, went to his peace on Saturday April 14, 2007, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital from a stroke.

William was born June 7, 1929 in Merrill, to the late Reinhart and Dorothy (Boettcher) Peterson. He married the love of his life, Roselene Bedynek in 1949.

Billy was first and foremost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a ginseng farmer who achieved notoriety for the beauty of his gardens and his skill in raising root. He was a member of the Wisconsin Ginseng Board in the early days and participated in numerous studies to improve ginseng horticulture. He worked for many years at North Central Technical College where he oversaw the construction of the facility at its current location and served as Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds until his retirement when he devoted himself full time to growing ginseng. He also worked at Pope's Dairy in Merrill, did construction in Milwaukee, farmed in the town of Rib Falls, and drove truck for Schmidt Trucking and Jaeger Bakery. Billy loved to fish and hunt. In his early years the pursuit of the trophy Muskie was on his mind, and he never missed a Wisconsin deer season.

A long-time member of The First United Methodist church in Wausau, William rededicated himself to the church in later years and served in a variety of ways. He treasured his relationship with the Lord and the friendships he developed among the congregation.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years Roselene, 2 sons Kelly(LaVonne) Peterson of Davenport, IA., Randy(Mari) Peterson of Wausau, four cherished grandchildren, Scott of the Southern Illinois area, Robert (Christie) of Athens, Livia of Green Bay, and Lea of Wausau, six equally cherished great grandchildren, two brothers Reinhart (Sally) of Tomahawk, Tom (Marsha) of St. Paul Minn., four sisters , Ruth Jane (Duane) Heath, Betty Grefe, Carol (Antonio) Garcia all of Merrill and Shirley (Earl) Thompson of Wausau. Billy is also survived by many dear relatives including Roselene's sisters. Special thanks to Angeline who was a tremendous help to him in the later years. Billy was preceded in death by one brother Donald.
