Wilbert Goetsch

August 10, 1923 — April 25, 2015

Wilbert "Wib" Goetsch, 91, of Wausau passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI.
Wib was born August 10, 1923 in Wausau to the late William and Irene (Hartwig) Goetsch. After graduating from Wausau Senior High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Philippines during WWII. On August 10, 1945 Wib married Lorna Eggebrecht at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. They made their home on Strowbridge Street in Wausau raising their four children, Sally, Bonnie, Jane and Billy. Wib was a bricklayer and owned Wib Goetsch Construction. He was a hard worker and loved tinkering in his spare time. In his younger years, he loved deer hunting, fishing, bowling and playing baseball. Wib and Lorna enjoyed many weekends and good times with family and friends at the family cottage on Long Lake in Harrison Hills. Wib was a Charter Member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Life Member of VFW Burns Post #388 and Past President of Bricklayers Union Local #6.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sally Riemer of Schofield and Bonnie Brings of Madison, six grandchildren, Sara (Dennis) Burdick, Amy (Tim) Zoromski, Rick (Kim) Riemer, Kristy (Jason) Wolf, Michelle (Jonathon Obst) Rusch, Matthew (Mayra) Goetsch, nine great grandchildren, Makayla, Jenna, Abigail, Anna, Chase, Carson, Emily, Melody, and Matteo, one sister, Carol Clure of Schofield and many nieces and nephews. Wib was further preceded in death by his wife, Lorna, daughter, Jane, son, Billy and two brothers, Gordon and LeRoy.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Stevens Drive, Wausau. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Burns Post #388. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
