Wilbert "Willie" Kell, 86, of Wausau passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1925 in Wausau to the late Carl and Mathilda (Meilahn) Kell. He farmed for several years and then worked for the Marathon County Highway Department until retiring in 1987. He married Hazel Kuhnert on June 11, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church, town of Easton. He enjoyed traveling, playing Sheepshead and going to the cottage on Flannery Lake. Willie had been an active member of the Hewitt-Texas Lion's Club and Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Wausau.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Wausau, daughter, Lynn (Joel) Rhyner of Grand Rapids, MN, three grandchildren, Brittany, Stacey, and Justin and a sister, Viola Pagel of Wausau. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Arnold, Eric, Alvin, Oscar and Harold.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Wausau. Rev. Arleigh Lutz will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
