William "Bill" Arthur Bey II was called to his eternal rest on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his home.
William was born to Audrey (nee Leo) and William Bey in Wausau on March 7, 1957. He was baptized into faith by Pastor Reede at Our Saviors church on March 24th. He was confirmed on May 5, 1974 at Our Saviors. His sponsors were Aunt Lydia (Bey) Breitenfield and Uncle Leonard Rieck. His confirmation bible verse was Acts 16:31 "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." In life, Jesus was Bill's best friend. One time when he was ill someone asked if he was afraid and he answered, "No, I have a friend who is always by my side taking care of me, Jesus."
Bill was very active during his lifetime at Our Saviors church ushering on Sundays, was in charge of the tape ministry, he was on the Stewardship committee, helped with Vacation Bible school and Christmas for Kids, taking many pictures of the events. He was also known as an unofficial member of the Ladies Aid-giving the ladies a hand with dinners etc.
Bill attended Special Ed classes at Lincoln school and Horace Mann, and graduated from the Live Skill Center. He worked at Northern Valley Workshop part-time while attending the Live Skill Center. He continued his education by having a tutor at the North Central Technical School, at the library. Our dear friend and neighbor Mary Stone also tutored him for many years, helping him write letters and doing other academic work. He was active in the Marathon County Literacy program at the library, thanks to Bernie Corsten. When Bill turned 50 his mother enrolled him in ballroom dance classes (in lieu of exercise classes) at Dees' Dance Workshop and he enjoyed private lessons and also group lessons where he met and made many friends. In last few years he started taking Kinesis exercise at Aspirus hospital four mornings a week. Bill also loved riding his bike.
In 1978 he started working at 2510 restaurant and worked there for 33 years, first washing dishes, then bussing and helping Mr. Baumer with outside work. He was very grateful to Mr. Baumer for giving him the opportunity to work there.
After an early retirement, he volunteered at Mt. View nursing home, Dime and Dollar Thrift Store, and Bethesda Thrift Store.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William, his grandparents, sponsors, and other relatives.
He is survived by his mother, Audrey Bey, Wausau; sisters Barbara (Lyle) Marquis, Chaska, MN; Stephanie (Bill) Cass, Flat Rock, NC; Christine (Kent) McMullin, DePere, WI; and brother Pastor Gregory (Connie) Bey, Indonesia; seven nieces and three nephews, twelve cousins, and many friends.
