William Neumann, 90, of Wausau passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital.
William "Peanuts" was born April 17, 1925 in Marathon County, WI, son of the late Fred and Dalla (Luedtke) Neumann. He was united in marriage to Elvera Schmidt on January 31, 1959, in the Town of Corning.
Peanuts first began working on the farm for the Erdman family in the Town of Maine and then began his career as a heavy equipment operator. He was employed for Wilbert Sturm, Anderson Brothers Quarry, and Wergin Construction retiring in 1989. He was a very proud member of Local 139 Operating Engineers for 52 years. He also worked as a bartender for 20 years at Schmidt's Ballroom where he enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with old friends.
Peanuts was a loving husband, father, grandfather and enjoyed gardening, polkas, bowling, fishing, cards, hunting, family get togethers, and joking with everyone he came in contact with. He was very active in the Trinity Lutheran Church and loved the Lord.
Survivors include his wife Elvera, eight children and their families, son, Dean (Sue) Neumann of Merrilland their family, Jenna (Matt) Robinson, Daniel (Sarah) Neumann and their children Jameson and Bentley: son, Darryl Neumann of Wausau, son, Dale (Leilani) Neumann of Hamburg and their family, Luke, Evan, and Ariel: daughter, Dannette (Andrew "Butch") Gunseor of Mosinee and their family Cheyenne and Casey: son, DeWayne (Kelly) Neumann of Brookfield, WI and family, Sam and Max: daughter, Dinah (Jeff Schneider) Krahn of Merrill and family Chloe and Sam: son Darrin Neumann of Wausau: and daughter Doreen (Vince Collins) Engelhardt of Denver, CO: brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl (Linda) Schmidt, Diane Pichelman, Lorraine (Fritz) Stevenson, Dorothy Radtke, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Hannah Krahn and Kara Neumann, siblings, Elgart Radtke, Earl Radtke, Agnes (Glen) Kersemeier, Mabel (Leslie) Kurth, Elgart (Elsie) Neumann, Lester Neumann, Elroy Neumann, Jalaine (David) Schlueter, Lorraine (Frank) Nowaczyk, RodPichelman, and his mother and father in law, Norman and Leona Schmidt.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave with Rev Gary Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Thursday at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St. Wausau. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Corning.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
