William Seehafer

February 13, 1926 — December 17, 2014

William Frederick Seehafer, 88, Wausau, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehab Center, Wausau.

William was born February 13, 1926 in the Town of Maine to the late Frederick and Helen (Wendorf) Seehafer. After growing up on the family farm, he joined the Army where he faithfully served his country in the Philippines during WWII. After returning home, William married Helen Kell on September 6, 1947 in Iron Mountain, MI. The couple welcomed three sons; Fritz, Gary and David. William began working for Marathon Box and stayed with the company for 39 years; retiring with James River as a Department Operator. William and Helen celebrated 59 years together before Helen passed on March 6, 2006.

William was a good, hardworking father and husband. He built the family home and as his children grew up, William made sure that he never missed one of his sons' sporting events no matter where it was or what the weather was like. In his free time, William enjoyed watching the Packers play, golfing, wood working and fishing. He was the chief cook on fishing trips to Canada with his sons and grandsons. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. Bill had a good sense of humor and enjoyed entertaining friends and family.

Bill is survived by his loving sons, Fritz of Wausau, Gary (Sherry) of Escanaba, MI and David (Kim) of Athens; grandchildren, Jeremy (Vicky), Rebecca, Brad, Tom, Paul and Troy; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Tyler and Zach; brother, Marvin (Norma) Seehafer; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Duranceau and Alice Zdzieblowski; and brothers, Herbert, Emil and Robert.
